The formulas are complex and based on your wisdom for clerics and intelligence for mages. Note that clerics start getting their level 6 spells long before mages. The level 6 spell 'Firestorm' is devastating, and you have to wait a bit to get it. Also note that Rangers do not get spells at level 1, so getting their spells is delayed compared to mages.

Finding the earliest is fine and well... I have been interested lately in finding a way to max your Priest spells. Is it possible? Is it feasable? I have a a few toons with 4 or 5 castings of Priest 6 spells, but havent worked with Clerics much to find their cap. Anyone have any information to show?

After seeing this thread, I took a dive to lvl 11 and cleared it out about 5 times trying to level up my party a few times on dps alone. I found that once you get into the 80s it is near impossible to consistantly level anymore (with pure dps methods). During that trip I decided to play with Rods, Finger of Death, Blade Barrier and Holy Word. I started to realize that it is very viable to clear using upper priest dps spells. Add to that all the Holy Cross jewelry and other bits and bobs with priestly spells... I could clear a branch fairly easy without magic spells.

Which leads me back to the discussion about top end priest spells... If a Cleric can get max spells at say 80 or so, with full ability to heal and rez, plus wear Mythril mail and shield, and all the priestly toys that go with... Im pretty positive that would be a pretty sturdy endgame character. The reverse of that is if that same priest never got over 8 level 6 spells, Im not sure he would be as viable.

Maybe someone else could clue us in on how to top out those spells and if its possible.

Admit it, how fun would it be to send a group of six Dwarven Clerics howling into battle? I admit their melee skills could never come close to a Sam or any other melee with a Balmung sword... but just to do it... totaly EPIC in my book.
