Played Oubliette on multiple formats... PLATO , Commodore, PC, and now tablet, phones ...etc....

Hardest of which was the PLATO version.....

I'm somewhat dissapointed... playing on the IPHONE lately.... version 1.2 ...
literally made 3 level 60's in 1.5 days.... and that was not playing hardcore nonstop that was just dabbling here and there....maybe, i 'know' the game too well.... thus i maximized my time etc.... i dont know.

I can take my party of 3 ( 2 sammys and a sage ) teleport to level 10 in 1 min....
any undead ( drain level mobs ) .... i fieminamor, skorpic, narfiet immediately.
no undead my sam's just waste them all including titans no problems at all....( set on max game speed )
only way i gain levels at this point is off a grandmaster or a titan... all other mobs are just too flimsy....
in version 1.2 i see ( guesssing ) max of 3 diffent mobs with 6 of each kind.....
looking forward to version 2.0 more mobs... hope the difficulty is multiplied significantly.....
I need a challenge.... game is quite dull after u hit level 60 .... nothing is a threat....
People that say the game is too hard .. .... need to find another game i guess....

Way to easy as it is...no point in farming quality items since there are no mobs that are a threat as is...

Please make the game significantly harder...

It is funny that you made this post because I tend to agree. However, you would not believe the number of people who have complained that the game is too hard. That being said, we are about to release a new version in which the lower levels are a bit tougher (there is actually a bug in the version you have that prevents the monsters from casting spells under most circumstances). We have also added a level 11 and a final boss monster. However, I suspect that you may still find it pretty easy.

The original PLATO Oubliette was MUCH harder to play, and in my mind that made it more fun. Of course it was multiplayer so your pain was shared with your friends which made it more bearable. Based on the complaints that we have gotten about the difficulty of this game, however, I am not sure that a game as hard as the original would ever be accepted.

I've read the post about about version 2.0..and looking forward to the release...
I'm not trying to sound negative... I love this game period.

Noticed a few little issues with the interface... not being able to see overall gold cept when u go to "rest" ... little things like that ....
Mention just one thing..... when the game looses its play value ..its over.... on the shelf...done... visit it every year for 20 mins.... etc.... Do we want that to happen .... short answer ...no...

Give us a challenge.... Ultimately, every gamer seeks that "thrill".. You know what im talking about....
Every encounter a teeth clencher...
This might sound sadistic... but having my party wiped by a group of mobs ..makes me want to progress my party and play more...

Possible a level, that the only way to survive ( and survive barely ) is once u claim the best of the best equiptment and toons with levels of 200+ ... i know it can get extreme... whos going to play that long ? Whos going to farm till thier fingers fall off ? Trust me, there will be those who will....

its all about the thrill, journey, and rewards that come from it

Well the lower levels are tougher in the new version. You can meet up to 5 monster groups and since the monsters in the new version WILL cast spells, you can no longer simply have your Samurai beat them down. The AC of a number of monsters was also decreased making them harder for the Samurai to hit. Finally there is a level 11 with a final boss monster. The battle dynamics of that encounter is a bit different than anywhere else in the game, and can be fairly challenging (unless you have really high level characters).

You are running the iOS version, correct? We will be releasing a final Beta for iOS soon and if you would like to test it, email me at oubliette@gabysoft.com and I will add you to the list.

Thanks for the input.

Silence and John,
I have been testing 2.0 pretty hard and am in a place where I think I can provide some assistance. I am going to try Silence's tactic of a three player game, but 1 Sam, 1 Ranger, and 1 Sage. I have the proper gear to make this possible in 1.2 ... Lets see if 2.0 is much harder.

Well... That was an eye opener... I lasted ten minutes. The very first group of four casters in one encounter wiped me completely out. I'm sure I could have killed them with a fieminamor, but I wanted to see how fast the melee could burn them down. Three rounds of Swing to Kill on both meleers = 6 dead casters... in that time there were two Fehalito spells that went off and killed my Sage (he was fully buffed) over half the casters were still standing and it only took one more Fehalito and my whole team was down. For reference, my Sam has 36 agi, and my Ranger has 33... Ranger with a Balmung, Sam with a Axe of Mortokgor. There just isn't enough time for the melee to kill that many casters. So, a larger group of Toons would be better for, if nothing else, more AOE spells. I run a usual group of six Toons to have a wide array of options in a pinch. Six may be overkill, but I can usually ensure all six get double leveled and have enough AOE spells to get back to the surface without climbing.

John, I think you have definitely found a way to make Sages and Rangers useful again. Sammys still rule melee, but five groups of caster is just too much to not use spells.

Thanks for the input Hellion. The fact that monsters did not cast spells properly in the 1.x version was a serious bug and definitely made the lower levels much easier than they should have been because the Samurai could just mow the spell casters down with impunity. Now you need characters that can take the real baddies out very quickly.
